The First Birthday Experience

Turning one is a big deal - and what better way to celebrate than with cake, bubbles, and lots of giggles? First birthday sessions are full of fun, perfect for capturing your little ones emerging personality. I will handle the mess - you enjoy the memories.
What to expect
A first birthday session is designed to be relaxed, fun and messy! We begin with a set of clean, timeless portraits, where your little one can explore and play with beautiful wooden toys - perfect for capturing those natural smiles and curious expressions.
Once they're settled, we will move on to the cake smash, letting them dig in, make a mess and have fun at their own pace. Finally, we finish with a splash in the mini bath tub - bubbles included! - giving your baby a chance to clean up while we capture those adorable, giggly moments

First Birthday FAQ
When should I book?
First birthday sessions are usually scheduled around 3 weeks before your baby's birthday, so you will have the images in time for the big day. Alternatively, you can choose to have your session closer to their birthday.

What should my child wear?

I have a selection of outfits at the studio that photograph beautifully and fit in with my vision. You can bring an outfit of choice for the portrait part of the session.

What if my child has allergies/dairy intolerances?
If your child has allergies or food intolerances then I kindly ask that you supply the cake. This just has to be a simple sponge cake with no colour icing or toppings.

can siblings come along?
Of course, siblings are always welcome! I just like to mention that from experience, the fewer distractions the better - little ones at this age can lose concentration quite quickly. Keeping the focus on them really helps me capture those natural, happy moments.

what happens if my baby doesn't co-operate with the cake?
It is common for babies not to enjoy the cake and that's fine. Sometimes hiding familiar snacks inside the cake will help them get stuck in!
